"he was white in complexion with a hint of redness ... his hair was smooth ... his neck was like a silver jug ...". Ibn Ḥibbān narrated it (2117) from a third path from him with the wording: "he had a large head, white with a hint of redness, with a large beard ...". Aḥmad also narrated it (1/96, 116, 127, 134) and al-Bayhaqī (1/158) partially, and in a narration by Aḥmad (1/116-117): "his head was large, his leg". ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad (1/151) and Ibn Saʿd (1/411) added in a fourth path from ʿAlī: "bright, with a prominent forehead, with long eyelashes". They both narrated it from the path of Yūsuf ibn Māzin that a man asked ʿAlī ... and in a narration by ʿAbd Allāh: "from a man from ʿAlī ...". This man might possibly be Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥanafiyyah, as it was narrated by ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAqīl from Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī from his father ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib with it, excluding the phrase: "bright, with a prominent forehead". It was narrated by Ibn Saʿd (1/410) and al-Bayhaqī (1/161). I said: Its isnād is good. It is also possible that he is ʿUmar ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, as it was narrated (1/462) from the path of ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib from his father from his grandfather who said: It was said to ʿAlī: O Abū Ḥasan! Describe the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) to us. He said: and he mentioned it, excluding the phrase: "bright, with a prominent forehead" as well
