trustworthy narrators from the men of the two Shaykhs, so it is appropriate for him to authenticate it. Perhaps he did not do so due to the previous criticism by al-Bukhārī, although it does not appear to me to be a strong criticism, and Allāh knows best. It is likely for this reason that Ibn al-Qayyim said in "Iʿlām al-Muwaqqiʿīn": "A good ḥadīth." Another version of part of it is narrated from ʿĀʾishah with the wording: "If he discovered that one of his household told a lie, he would continue to avoid them until they repented to Allāh." It was narrated by al-ʿUqaylī in the introduction of his book "al-Ḍuʿafāʾ" (p. 2), and from him by Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr in "al-Tamhīd" (1/69): Aḥmad ibn Zakīr narrated to us, Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Muʾmin narrated to us, Yaḥyá ibn Qaʿnab narrated to us, he said: Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father from ʿĀʾishah as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. Then he narrated it (p. 467): al-Ḥasan ibn [Ḥabīb] narrated to us, Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd al-Muʾmin narrated to us with it. He mentioned it in the biography of Yaḥyá ibn Muslimah ibn Qaʿnab, and said: "He is not followed in his ḥadīth, and he has narrated objectionable reports." He attributed it in "al-Jāmiʿ" to Aḥmad and al-Ḥākim from ʿĀʾishah, but I did not see it with them now, and al-Munāwī mentioned that it is with al-Ḥākim through the route of this Ibn Qaʿnab.
