It was recorded by Aḥmad (4/386) and its chain is good. 6 - This section is narrated by Abū Ghālib who said: I heard Abū Umāmah say: "When you place the purification in its proper places, you sit forgiven, and if you stand to pray, it will be a virtue and a reward for you, and if you sit, you sit forgiven." A man said: O Abū Umāmah, what do you think if he stands and prays, will it be a supererogatory act for him? He said: "No, the supererogatory act is only for the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), how can it be a supererogatory act for him when he is striving amidst sins and errors? It will be a virtue and a reward for him." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/255) and its chain is good. Then he recorded it (5/263) through the route of ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd ibn Bahram from Shahr ibn Ḥawshab who narrated to me from Abū Umāmah that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said:
