And regarding the ḥadīth, al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (8/192): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ' and 'al-Kabīr', and in it is Muḥammad ibn Ḥassān al-Samtī, whom Ibn Maʿīn and others deemed trustworthy, although there is some weakness in him. However, his teacher Abū ʿUthmān ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zayd al-Ḥimṣī was weakened by al-Azdī." I said: He was followed by Muʿāwiyah ibn Yaḥyá al-Shāmī Abū ʿUthmān: al-Awzāʿī narrated it to us through him. It was extracted by Yaḥyá ibn Mandah in "Aḥādīthih" (Q 91/1), Tamām in "al-Fawāʾid" (27/2), Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (2/276), Ibn ʿAsākir in "al-Tārīkh" (16/395/1), and al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Muntaqá min Masmūʿātih bi-Marw" (15/1). Ibn ʿAsākir mentioned it in the biography of this Abū ʿUthmān al-Shāmī and narrated from Abū Aḥmad—who is Ibn ʿAdī—that he said: "He is munkar al-ḥadīth." And Abū Bakr al-Kalābādhī said in "Miftāḥ al-Maʿānī" (257/1): Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Faqīh narrated to us, saying: Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd narrated to us from al-Awzāʿī through him. I said: And Abū Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd is unknown to me, and among those who narrated from al-Awzāʿī is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd ibn Rāshid al-Qurashī al-Dimashqī al-Muqriʾ Abū Bakr, who is trustworthy, and died in the year (218). Abū Zurʿah and others narrated from him, and Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned him. However, it seems there is a missing link in the isnād, as this person's kunyah is Abū Bakr, while the narrator of the ḥadīth's kunyah is Abū Muḥammad al-Daqīqī, so perhaps the missing link is between Abū Muḥammad and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd. And Allāh knows best. In any case, the ḥadīth is considered ḥasan to me due to the collective follow-ups, and al-Mundhirī said in "al-Targhīb" (3/250):
