from ʿĀṣim ibn Abī al-Najūd from Zur ibn Ḥubaysh from him. It was narrated by the authors of the Sunan, as well as al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (10213 - 10230), and it was authenticated by al-Tirmidhī, al-Ḥākim, and Ibn Ḥibbān (1878). The wording according to Abū Dāwūd is: "If there remains only one day from this world, Allāh will prolong that day until He sends a man from me or from my household, whose name will match my name and his father's name will match my father's name, and he will fill the earth..." the ḥadīth. Among those who authenticated it is Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah, who said in "Minhāj al-Sunnah" (4/211): "The ḥadīths used as evidence for the emergence of the Mahdī are authentic, narrated by Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmidhī, Aḥmad, and others from the ḥadīth of Ibn Masʿūd and others." Likewise in "al-Muntaqá min Minhāj al-Iʿtidāl" by al-Dhahabī (p. 534). I said: These are five of the major ḥadīth scholars who have authenticated the ḥadīths on the emergence of the Mahdī, along with many others from both earlier and later scholars. I will mention the names of those I could identify: 1 - Abū Dāwūd in "al-Sunan" by his silence on the ḥadīths of the Mahdī. 2 - al-ʿAqīlī. 3 - Ibn al-ʿArabī in "ʿĀriḍat al-Aḥwadhī". 4 - al-Qurṭubī as in "Akhbār al-Mahdī" by al-Suyūṭī. 5 - al-Ṭībī as in "Mirqāt al-Mafātīḥ" by Shaykh al-Qārī. 6 - Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah in "al-Manār al-Munīf", contrary to those who falsely attributed otherwise to him. 7 - al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar in "Fatḥ al-Bārī". 8 - Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ābarī in "Manāqib al-Shāfiʿī" as in "Fatḥ al-Bārī". 9 - Shaykh ʿAlī al-Qārī in "al-Mirqāt". 10 - al-Suyūṭī in "al-ʿArf al-Wardī". 11 - al-ʿAllāmah al-Mubārakfūrī in "Tuḥfat al-Aḥwadhī".
