if al-Bahī heard from ʿĀʾishah, and there is discussion about his hearing, and he was asked about it by Imām Aḥmad? He said: "I do not see anything in this; it is only narrated from al-Bahī." I said: But this weakness is compensated by the ḥadīth coming through another route, as Ibn ʿAsākir narrated it through Abū Yaʿlá, and this is in "his Musnad" (3/1100): Zakariyyā ibn Yaḥyá al-Wāsiṭī informed us, Hushaym informed us from Mujālid from al-Shaʿbī from ʿĀʾishah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) commanded me to wash the face of Usāmah ibn Zayd one day when he was a boy. She said: I had not given birth, nor did I know how to wash children. She said: So I took him and washed him in a manner that was not proper. She said: Then he took him and began to wash his face, saying: "You have done well by us since you were not a girl, for if you were a girl, I would have adorned you and given you." Its narrators are trustworthy, and in Mujālid, who is Ibn Saʿīd, there is weakness that does not harm in supporting and corroborating narrations. Then I found a strong mursal witness for it, as Ibn Saʿd said (4/1/43): Yaḥyá ibn ʿAbbād informed us, Yūnus ibn Abī Isḥāq informed us, Abū al-Safar informed us: While the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was sitting with ʿĀʾishah and Usāmah with them, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) looked and laughed, then said... and he mentioned it. And through the route of Ibn Saʿd, it was narrated by Ibn ʿAsākir (2/348/1). And this is an authentic mursal isnād, and Abū al-Safar's name is Saʿīd ibn Yaḥyá, a trustworthy tābiʿī who narrates from the ʿAbbādilah: Ibn ʿAbbās, Ibn ʿUmar, and Ibn ʿAmr.
"Whoever assists a wrongdoer with falsehood to invalidate a right with his falsehood has disassociated from the covenant of Allāh and the covenant of His Messenger." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" and its isnād is as follows: ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz narrated to us, ʿĀrim Abū al-Nuʿmān narrated to us, Muʿtamir informed us, I heard my father narrating from Ḥanash from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās in a marfūʿ manner. And it was recorded by al-Ḥākim (4/100) from ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz with this isnād. He said: "The isnād is authentic," and al-Dhahabī refuted it by saying:
