- "we used to take provisions from the sacrificial meat during the time of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) to Madīnah." It was recorded by Imām Aḥmad (3/309): Sufyān narrated to us from ʿAmr from ʿAṭāʾ from Jābir: and he mentioned it. With this isnād, it was recorded by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (4/57) and through his route by Muslim in "Ṣaḥīḥ" (6/81). It was also recorded by al-Bukhārī (6/239 - Istanbul) and al-Bayhaqī (9/291) through other routes from Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah. Shuʿbah followed him from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār. It was recorded by al-Dārimī (2/80) and Aḥmad (3/368). ʿAmr was followed by Ibn Jurayj who said: ʿAṭāʾ narrated to us with this wording: "we would not eat from our sacrificial meat beyond three days of Miná, so the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) permitted us, saying: eat and take provisions. I asked ʿAṭāʾ: did Jābir say: until we reached Madīnah? He said: yes."
