"He would not be pessimistic about anything, and when he appointed a worker, he would ask about his name. If he liked the name, he would be pleased, and this would be evident on his face. If he disliked the name, his displeasure would be visible on his face. When he entered a village, he would ask about its name. If he liked the name, he would be pleased, and this would be evident on his face. If he disliked the name, his displeasure would be visible on his face." This was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2/859), Ibn Ḥibbān (1430), Tamām in "al-Fawāʾid" (109/2), Aḥmad (5/347-348), and Ibn ʿAsākir (2/136/1) from Hishām from Qatādah from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraydah from his father as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. Ibn Ḥibbān does not include the matter of the worker, and it is found in Tamām without the matter of the village. I said: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of the two shaykhs. Ibn ʿAdī also recorded it (28/2) through the route of Aws ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraydah from Ḥusayn ibn Wāqid from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buraydah from his father, who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was not pessimistic, but he was optimistic. Then he mentioned the story of Buraydah's conversion to Islam. The ḥadīth." Aws is very weak, but the optimism of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) is confirmed in several ḥadīths, and what precedes is authentic with the corroboration of Qatādah. And Allāh knows best. The ḥadīth is attributed in "al-Jāmiʿ" to al-Ḥakīm and al-Baghawī from Buraydah. Al-Munāwī said: "It was also narrated from him by Qāsim ibn Aṣbagh, and ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq remained silent about it, considering it authentic. Ibn said
