"we were sitting with ʿAbdullāh when a man came and said: The prayer has been established. He stood up, and we stood with him. When we entered the mosque, we saw people bowing in the front of the mosque. He said the takbīr and bowed, and we bowed, then we walked and did as he did. A man passed by hastily and said: Peace be upon you, O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. He replied: Allāh and His Messenger have spoken the truth. When we prayed and returned, he entered his house, and we sat. Some of us said to others: Did you not hear his response to the man: Allāh has spoken the truth, and His messengers have conveyed [the message]? Who among you will ask him? Ṭāriq said: I will ask him. So he asked him when he came out, and he mentioned from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and he mentioned it. I said: And this isnād is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim. Then Aḥmad said (1/419-420): Yaḥyá ibn Ādam narrated to us, Bashīr Abū Ismāʿīl informed us with it, except for his saying: "and false testimony..." and without the story of bowing and walking. And its isnād is also authentic. Abū Nuʿaym differed from them, Bashīr ibn Salmān narrated to us with it similar to the narration of al-Zubayrī, except that he did not mention: "and severing family ties...". Instead, he said: "until a man goes out with his wealth to the ends of the earth and returns saying: I did not profit anything." It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (4/445-446) through the route of al-Sarī ibn Khuzaymah, Abū Nuʿaym narrated to us. He and al-Dhahabī remained silent about it.
