and it was from the Companions of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and was raised up. Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic." Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said.

- "When Allāh created Adam, He struck his right shoulder, and from it emerged white offspring as if they were small ants. Then He struck his left shoulder, and from it emerged black offspring as if they were charcoal. He said to those on his right: 'To Paradise, and I do not mind.' And He said to those on his left shoulder: 'To Hell, and I do not mind.'" It was narrated by Aḥmad and his son in the additions to "al-Musnad" (6/441) and by Ibn ʿAsākir in "Tārīkh Dimashq" (vol. 15/136/1). I say: Its chain of transmission is authentic.

- "Indeed, Allāh took a handful with His right hand and said: 'These are for this, and I do not mind.' Then He took another handful, meaning: with His other hand, and said: 'These are for this, and I do not mind.'" It was narrated by Aḥmad (55/68) from Abū Naḍrah who said: "A man from the Companions of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) fell ill, and his companions visited him. He wept, and it was said to him: 'What makes you weep, O ʿAbdullāh! Did not the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say to you: Take from your mustache...'"
