and from the routes of Abū Yaʿlá, it was extracted by al-Bayhaqī who said: A trustworthy person from the people of knowledge informed us, saying: Abū ʿAmr ibn Ḥamdān informed us, saying: Abū Yaʿlá al-Mawṣilī informed us... I said: This is a good isnād, all its men are trustworthy, except for al-Azraq. The ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful, but he narrates rare things." He was not alone in narrating it, for Abū Nuʿaym also extracted it in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (2/83) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ṣabāḥ from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyá ibn Abī Bukayr, narrated to us by Yaḥyá ibn Abī Bukayr. He mentioned it in the biography of this Ibn al-Ṣabāḥ, and did not mention any criticism or praise about him, and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyá ibn Abī Bukayr, al-Khaṭīb translated him (10/8) and said: "He heard from his grandfather Yaḥyá ibn Abī Bukayr, the judge of Kirmān... and he was trustworthy." So this is a strong corroboration for al-Azraq, indicating that he preserved it and did not narrate something rare. It seems for this reason that al-Munāwī said in "Fayḍ al-Qadīr" after attributing its origin to Abū Yaʿlá: "And it is a ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth."
