The gate of ijtihād is open to anyone qualified for it until the Day of Judgment. Whoever claims that the gate of ijtihād is closed has erred. Rather, his claim necessitates opening the gate of blind imitation to its widest extent.
باب الاجتهاد مفتوح لكل من كان أهلاً له إلى قيام الساعة. ومن قال بإغلاق باب الاجتهاد فقد أخطأ. بل ويلزم من قوله فتح باب التقليد على أوسع أبوابه.
