and upon his family and his righteous and pious companions who transmitted to us his worship, prayer, sayings, and actions, making them alone their school of thought and example, and upon those who followed their path and walked their way until the Day of Judgment. After completing the reading of "The Book of Prayer" from "al-Targhīb wa-al-Tarhīb" by al-Ḥāfiẓ al-Mundhirī (may Allāh have mercy on him) and teaching it to some of our Salafī brothers—this was four years ago—it became clear to all of us the status and significance of prayer in Islam and the reward, virtue, and honor for those who establish it and perform it well. And that this varies—increase and decrease—according to its closeness or distance from the prayer of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), as indicated by his saying in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abū Dāwūd": "A servant may perform a prayer, and nothing of it is written for him except a tenth, a ninth, an eighth, a seventh, a sixth, a fifth, a quarter, a third, or a half." Therefore, I pointed out to the brothers that we cannot perform it even close to that performance unless we know the detailed description of the Prophet's prayer (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and what it contains of obligations, etiquettes, forms, supplications, and remembrances, and then strive to apply that practically. At that point, we hope that our prayer will prevent us from immorality and wrongdoing and that we will be granted the reward and recompense mentioned in it
