and he taught them various forms of sending prayers upon him (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): 1 - (Aḥmad and al-Ṭaḥāwī with a sound chain of transmission) "O Allāh, send prayers upon Muḥammad and upon his family, his wives, and his descendants as You sent prayers upon the family of Ibrāhīm. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. And bless Muḥammad and the family of his house, his wives, and his descendants as You blessed the family of Ibrāhīm. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious." This is what he himself (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) would supplicate. 2 - (al-Bukhārī and Muslim) "O Allāh, send prayers upon Muḥammad and upon the family of Muḥammad as You sent prayers upon [Ibrāhīm and upon] the family of Ibrāhīm. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. O Allāh, bless Muḥammad and the family of Muḥammad."
