(Muslim and Abū ʿAwānah) then (the Prophet ﷺ would recite in every two rakʿahs "al-Taḥiyyāt" (al-Bayhaqī with a good isnād). and (the first thing he would say upon sitting was: "al-Taḥiyyātu lillāh" (al-Bukhārī and Muslim). and (if he forgot it in the first two rakʿahs, he would perform the prostration of forgetfulness) and he would command it, saying: (al-Nasāʾī, Aḥmad, and al-Ṭabarānī with an authentic isnād) (When you sit in every two rakʿahs, say: "al-Taḥiyyāt" etc... and let one of you choose from the supplications what pleases him and supplicate to Allāh with it). In another wording: (Say in every sitting: "al-Taḥiyyāt"). and he also commanded it to (the one who prayed incorrectly) as mentioned earlier (al-Bukhārī and Muslim). and (the Prophet ﷺ would teach them the testimony as he would teach them a sūrah from the Quran) (Abū Dāwūd, authenticated by al-Ḥākim and agreed upon by al-Dhahabī). and (the sunnah is to recite it quietly)
