and he (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) would say in this sitting: 1 - (Abū Dāwūd, al-Tirmidhī, and Ibn Mājah; authenticated by al-Ḥākim and agreed upon by al-Dhahabī) "O Allāh (in another narration: O Lord), forgive me, have mercy on me, [mend me], [raise me], guide me, [grant me well-being], and provide for me." At times he would say: 2 - Ibn Mājah with a good chain of narration "O Lord, forgive me, forgive me," and he would say these in (the night prayer) (al-Bukhārī and Muslim). Then (he would say the takbīr and prostrate the second prostration) and he instructed this to (the one who prayed poorly) and said to him after commanding him to be at ease between the two prostrations as mentioned before:
