the statements of the imams regarding following the sunnah and abandoning their own statements that contradict it. it is beneficial to present here what we have found of them, or some of them, in the hope that they may serve as a lesson and reminder for those who blindly imitate them—or even those who imitate lesser figures to a greater degree—and cling to their schools of thought and statements as if they were revealed from the heavens, while Allāh says:
