The Hyphen or Dash
الوصلة أو الشرطة
A dash at the beginning of dialogue... if you do not wish to repeat the name And between numbers and enumerated items it is used... like titles when they are introduced Like firstly — and secondly... at the beginning, and the enumerated item follows And between the two parts of a sentence if they are long... the first part so we see a connection And from here it is called a hyphen... for connecting what is between the two parts of a sentence
وَشرْطة فِي أوَّل الحِوَار ... إنْ لمْ تشأ للاسْم مِنْ تكرَار وَبيْن أعْدَادٍ وَمَعْدودٍ جَرَتْ ... مثل العَناوين وَقدْ تصدَّرَتْ كمِثل أوَّلا ـ وَمِثل ثانيا ... فِي البدْءِ وَالمَعْدُودُ جَاءَ تاليا وَبيْنَ رُكنَيْ جُمْلةٍ إنْ طالا ... أوَّلُ رُكن كيْ نرَى اتصَالا وَمِنْ هُنا قدْ سُمِّيَتْ بالوَصْلةِ ... لوصْلِها ما بيْنَ رُكنيْ جُمْلةِ
