The one hoping for the mercy of the All-Hearing, the incapable, Maḥmūd Abū Sarīʿ, says All praise is due to Allāh, who taught mankind with the pen what they did not know And the best of prayers and peace be upon the chosen noble Prophet And after that, punctuation has benefits for the writer, reader, and critic The places of separation become clear with it, and the reader understands where to pause As if it were a traffic signal indicating stopping and passing It distinguishes the structural parts of speech, and the completeness of meaning becomes apparent with it It brings the meaning closer to the minds and reveals the ambiguity in meanings I have seen its arrangement for the student, a marvelous arrangement, palatable to the drinker Our Lord is the one asked for care and the one sought for reaching the goal I asked Him for correctness and success, making the path easy for His servant
يَقولُ رَاجِي رَحْمةِ السَّمِيع ... ذو العَجْز مَحْمُودٌ أبُو سَريع الحَمْدُ للهِ الذِي بالقلم ... قدْ عَلمَ الإنسَانَ مَا لمْ يَعْلم وَأفضَلُ الصَّلاةِ وَالتسْلِيم ... عَلى النبيِّ المُصْطفى الكريم وَبَعْدُ فالترْقِيمُ ذو فوَائِدِ ... لِكاتِبٍ وَقارئٍ وَناقِدِ مَوَاقِعُ الفصْل بهِ تنكشِفُ ... ويُدْركُ القارئُ أيْنَ يَقِفُ كأنهُ إشَارَةُ المُرُور ... تؤْذِنُ بالوُقوفِ وَالعُبُور يَمِيزُ أجْزَاءَ الكلام مَبنى ... وَينجَلِي بهِ اكتِمَالُ المَعْنى يُقرِّبُ المَعْنى إلى الأذهَان ... وَيكشِفُ الغُمُوضَ في المَعَانِي وَقدْ رَأيْتُ نظمَهُ للطالبِ ... نظمًا بَدِيعًا سَائِغًا للشَّاربِ وَرَبُّنا المَسْئُولُ فِي الرِّعَايَة ... وَالمُسْتعَانُ فِي بُلوغ الغايَة سَألتهُ الصَّوابَ وَالتوْفِيقا ... مُذللا لِعَبْدِهِ الطريقا
