1 - Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Ishbīlī informed us, saying: Abū Muḥammad ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn Hārūn ibn ʿĪsá ibn Ibrāhīm al-Hāshimī narrated to us, by dictation, saying: Muḥammad ibn Manṣūr ibn Abī al-Jahm narrated to us, saying: Naṣr ibn ʿAlī, meaning al-Jahḍamī, narrated to us, saying: ʿAbdullāh ibn Bāriq al-Ḥanafī narrated to us that he heard his father narrate that he heard Ibn ʿAbbās say regarding the words of Allāh, "except him whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct" (al-Nabaʾ, 38), he said: "The correct is the testimony that there is no deity but Allāh." Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad al-Bazzāz informed us, saying: Abū Bakr Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Abī al-Uṣbuʿ al-Imām narrated to us, saying: Khayr ibn ʿArafah narrated to us, saying: ʿUrwah ibn Marwān al-Raqqī narrated to us, saying: Ibn Ḥayyān narrated to us, saying: Hammām narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan, who said: When Allāh sent Adam (peace be upon him) down from Paradise to the earth, Allāh, the Exalted, said to him: "O Adam, remember four things: one is for Me from you, another is for you from Me, a third is between Me and you, and a fourth is between you and the people. As for what is for Me from you, it is that you worship Me and do not associate anything with Me. As for what is for you from Me, it is that I will reward you for your deeds and will not wrong you in anything. As for what is between Me and you, it is that you call upon Me and I will respond to you. And as for what is between you and the people, it is that you come to them with what you would like them to come to you with." Abū Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUmar al-Naḥḥās informed us, saying: Abū al-Ṭayyib Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar ibn Durrān ibn Sulaymān narrated to us, in the year three hundred and thirty-eight, saying: al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī al-Shāhid narrated to us, saying: Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Ḥātim narrated to us: I asked him, he said: Saʿīd ibn Rāshid narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from his father, who said: "There is no deity but Allāh repels the wrath of the Lord from the servants." Abū Muḥammad Ismāʿīl ibn ʿUmar ibn Ismāʿīl al-Muqriʾ recited to us, saying: Abū al-Ṭayyib al-ʿAbbās ibn Aḥmad al-Hāshimī recited to us, saying: Abū al-Ḥasan Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Saʿīd al-Mihrānī recited to us, saying: Muḥammad ibn Yazīd recited to us, for Maḥmūd al-Warrāq: "If my gratitude for the blessing of Allāh is itself a blessing upon me, then gratitude for it is obligatory. So how can I reach gratitude except by His grace, even if the days are prolonged and life continues? If touched by prosperity, its joy spreads; and if touched by adversity, it brings reward. And neither of them is without a blessing from Him, which overwhelms both the mind and the land and sea." End of the first part, and all praise is due to Allāh as He deserves to be praised, and His blessings be upon the best of His creation, Muḥammad, and his family, and peace be upon them abundantly.
