they say a heart is infatuated when it is devoted to the beloved, and the infatuated is the devoted. "Taym Allāh" means "the servant of Allāh." This perfection was achieved by Ibrāhīm and Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhimā wa-sallam). For this reason, he (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) did not have a close friend from the people of the earth, as intimate friendship does not allow for partnership. As it is said in meaning: "You have permeated the path of the soul within me... and thus the intimate friend is called a friend." Unlike the essence of love, for he (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said in the authentic ḥadīth regarding al-Ḥasan and Usāmah: "O Allāh, I love them, so love them and love those who love them." ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ asked him: "Who among the people is most beloved to you?" He said: "ʿĀʾishah."
