they do not fall away from him, neither by witnessing destiny nor by anything else. Whoever does not recognize this should be informed and it should be clarified to him. If he insists on believing that command and prohibition have fallen away, then he is to be killed. Such statements have become prevalent among the later generations. As for the earlier generations of this community, these statements were not known among them. These statements are opposition to Allāh and His Messenger, enmity towards Him, a hindrance from His path, opposition to Him, denial of His messengers, and contradiction to His judgment. Even if those who make these statements may be ignorant of this and believe that what they are upon is the path of the Messenger and the path of the true friends of Allāh, they are in this like someone who believes that prayer is not obligatory for him because he has attained a state of heart that makes him independent of it, or that wine is permissible for him because he is among the special ones who are not harmed by drinking wine, or that immorality is permissible for him because he has become like the sea that is not polluted by sins, and so on. There is no doubt that the polytheists who denied the Messenger oscillate between innovation that contradicts the law of Allāh and using destiny as an argument to oppose the command of Allāh. لَا يسقطان عَنهُ لَا بشهوده الْقدر وَلَا بِغَيْر ذَلِك فَمن لم يعرف ذَلِك عُرِّفه وبيِّن لَهُ فَإِن أصر على اعْتِقَاد سُقُوط الْأَمر وَالنَّهْي فَإِنَّهُ يُقتل. وَقد كثرت مثل هَذِه المقالات فِي الْمُسْتَأْخِرِينَ. وَأما المتقدمون من هَذِه الْأمة فَلم تكن هَذِه المقالات مَعْرُوفَة فيهم وَهَذِه المقالات هِيَ محادة لله وَرَسُوله ومعاداة لَهُ وَصد عَن سَبيله ومشاقة لَهُ وَتَكْذيب لرسله ومضادة لَهُ فِي حكمه. وَإِن كَانَ من يَقُول هَذِه المقالات قد يجهل ذَلِك ويعتقد أَن هَذَا الَّذِي هُوَ عَلَيْهِ هُوَ طَرِيق الرَّسُول وَطَرِيق أَوْلِيَاء الله الْمُحَقِّقين فَهُوَ فِي ذَلِك بِمَنْزِلَة من يعْتَقد أَن الصَّلَاة لَا تجب عَلَيْهِ لاستغنائه عَنْهَا بِمَا حصل لَهُ من الْأَحْوَال القلبية أَو أَن الْخمر حَلَال لَهُ لكَونه من الْخَواص الَّذين لَا يضرهم شرب الْخمر أَو أَن الْفَاحِشَة حَلَال لَهُ لِأَنَّهُ صَار كالبحر لَا تكدره الذُّنُوب وَنَحْو ذَلِك. وَلَا ريب أَن الْمُشْركين الَّذين كذبُوا الرَّسُول يَتَرَدَّدُونَ بَين الْبِدْعَة الْمُخَالفَة لشرع الله وَبَين الِاحْتِجَاج بِالْقدرِ على مُخَالفَة أَمر الله فَهَذِهِ الْأَصْنَاف فِيهَا شبه من الْمُشْركين؛ إِمَّا أَن يبتدعوا
